So I got in trouble at a store the other day for trying to take like $75 (a pair of jeans and boxers).?

The cop said how I just have to show up to court in like 2 months, they call it petty larceny. I live in NY. so I was wondering what the penalty for this is prob going to be? I have a 100% clean record. Also they said they might be sending something to my house so as long as I stop the mail, I should be fine right? because my parents cant find out. im 18 years old. i know the court date and time and everything. and please, only serious answers becasue this is a serious topic. thanks everyone
