Why has there been so much indie rock in television commercials over the last five years?

I think they need music that isn't limited by an angry producer. So basically, I think it's cheaper AND it is more complimentary of the current creative trend. Also, it's hard to find a good clic rock, metal, or hip-hop song that has good instrumentals (in case the commercial needs music with no lyrics) and "innocent" lyrics (in case the commercial needs music with lyrics). Let's face it, Indie music just sounds good with or without lyrics in most cases. It's very "theatrical." I'm an indie rock fan though, so I think my opinion has invested interest...
