Problem with MS word 2007?

I've been using MS Office 2007, and the only things that stop me from taking up Apple are the compatibility issues and the familiarity with XP bundles. Well, I've been using Word a lot, and this is getting me a little annoyed. Every time I open Word, the reading area (the place where you type) is at a zoom level of 10%, with a 'd' already typed. Anyone help me with it? I want it to be 100% size, with no characters typed. Is my PC getting AI? Please help!
