Is this an appropriate reason to fite wid my bf?

he wanted to get a haircut. i asked him not to cut his hair. then, he made up some dumb excuse and ultimately went for a haircut. on his way to the shop, i asked him not to get it cut too short but he did. now i am not speakin to hin. am i overreacting? or is he wrong to make up some stupid excuse?
